MATCH REPORT
DEVON & EXETER LEAGUE, SENIOR ONE
SATURDAY 15 SEPTEMBER 2007
| BUDLEIGH SALTERTON 4 | v | WESTEXE 0 |
After four away games in a row Budleigh put in a good all round team display. With only six minutes on the clock Karl Rickard headed home after a good cross from Ian Mortimore. Then on seventeen minutes Richard Highams through pass put Scott Thornhill away down the wing and his cross was side footed home by the impressive Carl Everest. Budleigh continued to press and Rickard got his second on the half hour mark to seal an impressive first half.
The second half started with Westexe forcing some early corners but everything was dealt with by the outstanding Tony Pallett who was well supported by Rich Higham, Craigh Higham and Tim Bradshaw. In goal Noel Pond had a fine game and never looked like being beaton. From a long throw out Bradshaw found Kirk Owen and his long range shot somehow crept in. Scott Howarth nearly made it five after Thornhill picked him out with a raking pass but his shot just went wide. A nasty ankle injury to Thornhill late on soured the win and he could well be out for a few weeks. Man of the match went to Tony Pallett for another great display but special mention must also go to Karl Rickard who lead the line well and was a real handfull to Westexe all game. Next week Budleigh are back on their travels, away to Newtown.
