MATCH REPORT
EAST DEVON CUP
SATURDAY 1 MARCH 2008
| HATHERLEIGH (2) 4 | v |
BUDLEIGH SALTERTON (0) 2 |
Budleigh made the long trip to Hatherleigh looking to take the scalp of the premier side but were hindered by six players being cup tied. The game started on a heavy pitch and it was Budleigh who forced a couple of early corner's but from then on it was the worst half of football seen from Budleigh all season. Two soft goals were conceded from a mixture of bad defending and keeping.
At half time Peter White came on for Gareth Wicks and to the sides credit, for the rest of the game they pinned their host's back. Scott Thornhill scored a well struck penalty after Craig Higham was brought down. But as Budleigh pushed forward they were hit twice on the break. Simon Rose then scored a fantastic volley which flew in of both posts from twenty yards out. With ten minutes left Craig Higham had a great chance but the keeper made a fine save from close range.
