MATCH REPORT

DEVON & EXETER LEAGUE SENIOR ONE

SATURDAY 10 NOVEMBER 2007

ELMORE  3   (2)
v
BUDLEIGH SALTERTON  (2)  6

Six changes to last weeks squad saw Budleigh put in a weak opening twenty minutes and found themselves two down after ten minutes. Then on the half hour mark Scott Howarth scored a fine goal when firing home from eighteen yards out. Simon Rose then equalised with the very next attack when Craig Higham's fine cross was headed home.

After the break the Robins again seemed to play their better football and soon started to take control. Ian Mortimore scored the third with a tidy finish after cutting in from the left. Then Scott Howarth got his second to give Budleigh a two goal cushion. But to be fair to Elmore they never gave up and battled for everything. They got a third after a strange penalty was awarded by the ref much to the amazement of both sides. Still Budleigh made the game safe when another cross was headed home by Craig Higham and sixteen year old younger brother Scott Higham, making his debut, curled home a sweet shot from just outside the box with his first touch. Budleigh could have added some more goals late on and also had a cast iron penalty waved away. Starman Scott Howarth
