After a 4 year break Budleigh returned to the premier division and welcomed title favorites St Martins. The early pace was fast from both sides but Budleigh's failure to keep the ball was their undoing as two fantastic strikes on the half hour mark and just after gave the visitor's a deserved lead. On the stroke of half time Craig Higham had a header cleared off the line.

Budleigh made two early changes in the second half with Alex West and Matt Channing coming on . Budleigh pulled a goal back ten minutes in, when Tim Nield's free kick was headed home by Danny Minto. Now it was St Martin's turn to hang on as Budleigh pressed hard looking for an equaliser. Several crosses bounced through a crowded area with the home side inches away from tapping home. On the whole a very good game and Budleigh head off to Newtown on Saturday in good spirit.
