Early goal mouth action at both ends saw Chris Wright push a 25 yard frre kick wide of the right hand post. Then a Matt Byrne free kick for Budleigh, from a similar distance, cannoned back off the Parkway cross bar. Mid way through the half there was a short disruption to play to allow Martin Kelland to receive treatment for a head injury. From the restart Budleigh almost snatched the lead when Jamie Mudge forced Dave Painter into a good save just inside his left hand post. Half time remained locked at 0 - 0.
20 minutes into the second half Parkway took a 1 - 0 lead when a corner kick was only partly cleared by the Budleigh defence. The ball fell kindly for Stuart Berry to fire home from the back corner of the 18 yard box. Budleigh missed a chance to equalise on 78 minutes. A corner was headed back into the 6 yard box by Martin Kelland but nobody was able to touch the ball in. Danny Burwood made sure this did not happen again when Jamie Mudge's cross from the right ran through the box for him to tap in with just 2 minutes left. Chris Wright kept Budleigh hopes alive with two point blank saves on his goal line to deny Parkway and force extra time.
4 minutes into the first period and this time Wright made an error and his clearance hit Mark Berry and fell kindly for an easy tap in. Still not to be outdone Budleigh came back at Parkway with 5 minutes remaining in the second period. Andy Bennett won the ball on the edge of the penalty area and slotted it through for Jamie Mudge to to level it from 12 yards and take it to a replay at Parkway. Replay details on the home page.
