A lively start to this cup match on Friday evening at Washbrook saw Budleigh miss an early opportunity to take the lead when Anthony Osbourne's cross in from the right was mis-kicked by Jamie Mudge at the back post. 5 minutes later, at the opposite end, Mark Simic was allowed space to turn and fire a shot past Chris Wright from 18 yards to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead which they held until half time.
A good talk from kevin Smith during the interval changed things in the second half because within 2 minutes Jamie Mudge jinked his way past three defenders down the right wing and crossed for Matt Byrne to fire past the keeper from 18 yards. A few minutes later and it was 1 - 2 when Mudge again caused havoc, crossed fromthe right and Carl Wilson tunred it into his own net. On 75 minutes Budleigh in creased their lead when a long clearance from Chris Wright fell kindly for substitute Alvin Pollard who chipped neatly over the keeper from 10 yards. A Jamie Mudge strike from 20 yards rounded off the evening to make it 4 - 1 to Budleigh, who now meet Clyst Rovers in the next round, at home on 20 October with a 2.45pm kick off.
