SOUTH WEST PENISNSULA LEAGUE - DIVISION ONE (EAST)

SATURDAY 8 MARCH 2008

BUDLEIGH SALTERTON   (1)  2
v
CREDITON (0) 0

WILLIAMS
SAUNDERS

A very strong wind from the south west did not make for good football at Greenway Lane today. The Robins, playing against the wind in the first half did well enough to go one up in just two minutes. Matt Byrne’s cross from the right was met by Danny Williams and drilled home from 10 yards out. The visitors had a chance to reply a few minutes later when Lee Waping, out wide on the left, used the wind to his advantage to fire a shot through the Robins 18 yard box, but the ball went just wide of the far post. Mid way through the half Williams had another chance from a Neil Pointing cross but this time he headed straight at the Crediton keeper.

After 15 minutes of the second half another Pointing cross was headed over by Andy Bennett. Budleigh secured the win from a well placed free kick by Stuart Francis which was met by Neil Saunders on a well timed run. Crediton’s only efforts to reply were easily dealt with by Chris Wright in the Robins goal.
