Budleigh made their longest trip of the season to Marshford and maintained their unbeaten record, returning with another 3 points.
In the opening spell Appledore’s Steve Skinner missed an opportunity after 10 minutes. From about 18 yards he shot wide. The resulting goal kick fell for Matt Byrne in mid field, and he picked out Stuart Francis breaking down the right wing. His cross to the edge of the 6 yard box was volleyed home by Danny Williams. On 25 minutes the hosts went close to levelling the score when Ewan Butler’s shot hit the post. From the counter attack Neil Pointing set up Williams but his effort was well saved by Nicky Spry in the home goal. Just before half time Chris Wright in the Budleigh goal did well to save a close range header and keep the Robins in front going in to the interval.
Early in the second period the hosts again had a chance to level it. Ben Layland shooting wide from about 20 yards out. On 62 minutes Danny Hall made space and got the ball into the 6 yard box but Williams shot over the bar from close range. Budleigh then came under a lot of pressure with Appledore throwing everything forward in an effort to get back on terms. With 2 minutes left on the clock another quick break saw substitute Danny Minto fire in from 20 yards to give the Robins a 2 – 0 victory.
