Budleigh Salterton started the match with some good football on a sticky surface, but it took 15 minutes before either keeper was tested. The first chance fell for the Robins when Ashley Barker struck from 20 yards but his effort was well saved by Adrian Roberts in the Alpha’s goal. 10 minutes later Barker had another shot blocked, this time by Mark Simmons. Danny Hall eventually broke the deadlock on 35 minutes rifling in from 25 yards out. Matt Byrne then slipped the ball through the home defence for Jamie Densham to slot in for 0 – 2. Just before half time a mix up in the Robins defence near the corner flag allowed Gary Hayes to cross and Leigh Atkins to touch in from close range for 1 – 2 at the half time interval.
17 minutes into the second half Chris Wright’s long clearance beat the home defence and allowed Danny Hall to pick out Densham who made it 1 – 3. Densham then got his hat trick on 67 minutes when the home keeper misjudged a cross and the ball fell for an easy tap in at the far post. Hall then rounded off the win after being set up by Barker.
A great send off for man of the match Jamie Densham who is on his way to Bideford Town, another team of Robins.
Next Saturday Budleigh Salterton are at home to Teignmouth, kick off 2.45pm.
