Budleigh travelled to Foxhole Sports Ground to face a Totnes & Dartington side on a very wet and greasy pitch which made it for either side to create any chances until mid way through the first half. Then Matt Byrne’s cross to the back post found Jamie Densham whose header was saved by Barry Abraham. The score remained 0 -0 until half time with Budleigh creating most of the attacking play and the home side relying on the odd break from mid field.
Budleigh got the break they deserved 2 minutes into the second half. A cross from Byrne to the far post found Neil Saunders who headed in to make it 1 – 0 to Budleigh. About 10 minutes later it was 2 – 0 to the Robins. Neil Pointing’s cross from the right was sliced into his own net by Richard Parkins. The home side came back briefly on 60 minutes when they broke down the left and crossed for Tom Comyn. His shot from close range was well saved by Chris Wright in the Budleigh goal.. Then, from a free kick which the Robins defence failed to clear, Mike Bishop poked the ball in from close range to make it 2 – 1. This was short lived when Byrne’s long clearance was chased down by Danny Hall who took the ball wide of the keeper and slotted in from a tight angle.
This 3 -1 win maintained
Budleigh’s winning run and moved them to the top of the table after
Newton Abbot were beaten at Ottery.
