The opening game of the season at Greenway Lane, in the newly formed league, gave the spectators a bit of a see saw first half. Budleigh took a 1 - 0 lead after 5 minutes when the visitors defence failed to clear their lines allowing Jamie Densham to score from 8 yards. The Robins conceded a needless free kick on the left, parried by Chris Wright, but only to Ewan Butler who slotted home. More poor defending allowed the visitors to take a 2 - 1 lead through Aaron Stevens. Within a minute a Densham cross found Danny hall who made no mistake. Just before half time Danny Williams restored the Robins advantage.
The second half saw early chances for Budleigh to increase their lead, the best falling to Hall, whose shot from 20 yards was cleared off the line by a visiting defender. The Robins fourth goal came on 70 minutes and was the best of the game. Pointing and Byrne combined well on the right to float in a cross which was headed home by Joel hawes.
